The Check Engine Light on an automobile is a warning indicator that the computer has detected an issue with one or more of the sensors, gauges, and/or components in your vehicle’s electronic control module.
Many different issues: can cause it
- Sensor malfunction (exhaust gas oxygen sensor, air flow meter)
- Battery failure
- Incorrect wiring harness connections
- Defective ECM component(s)

How can we find engine light diagnostic?
The first thing to do is check the owner’s manual. If you don’t have the owner’s manuals, then look online for them. Once you have the manual, go through all the pages and see if there is anything about checking the engine light diagnostic.
If you still can’t find anything, then call up the manufacturer of your vehicle. They should be able to help you out.
Step 1: The first step to checking the light engine diagnostic is to turn off the ignition key switch. Then remove all accessories from the steering wheel column.
Step 2: Remove the plastic cover under the steering wheel.
Step 3: Turn the ignition key switch back on. The engine should start right away. If not, try again.
If the engine starts, then go to the next step.
Step 4: Now press the brake pedal and release it slowly. This will open the hood.

If the check lamp stays on even after stopping, then it could mean a bad ignition coil. Ignition coils are used to start the engine. If the coil malfunctions, then the engine won’t start.
If the check lamp stays on while driving, then it could be because of a malfunctioning mass airflow sensor. Mass airflow sensors measure the amount of air entering the engine. If the sensor malfunctions, then the computer may think that there isn’t enough air coming into the engine. This will cause the engine to run lean.
If the check light stays on for more than 10 seconds, then it could mean an overheating radiator cap. Overheated radiators can lead to engine failure.
If the check engine light stays on for more that 20 minutes, then it could mean something wrong with the oxygen sensor. Oxygen sensors measure how much oxygen is in the exhaust gas. If the sensor malfunctions, then the computer may not get accurate readings. This will make the computer think that the mixture of fuel and air is too rich or too lean.
