Boosting Your Health By Eating Well

Nutrition is an important part of global wellness. It is connected to every facet of our functioning – for the body, the mind, and our mental health.

A well-balanced diet provides us with all the energy needed throughout the day, nutrients that form the building blocks of growth as well as physical recovery (repair), and even for the prevention of illness.

For our hearts to keep functioning at top capacity, a healthy heart-mindful diet should be one that is rich in low fat dairy, whole grains, a variety of seeds and fibres, and fresh fruits and vegetables (preferably organically grown).

What’s more, it is important that we limit the intake of salt and saturated fats. Moderation helps the body to regulate blood pressure and even cholesterol levels in a heart-healthy way.

Another great way to boost the heart is to eat a portion of either trout or salmon at least once a week. These are rich in healthy oils and considerably lower the risk of heart disease.

Strong Teeth & Bones

A diet that is rich in calcium is necessary for healthy teeth and bones. As such, calcium helps the body to slow down the gradual loss of bone caused by old age.

Typically found in dairy products, calcium is also absorbed by eating the following:

  • Green vegetables (dark): great examples include spinach, kale, and broccoli.
  • Foods fortified with additional calcium: these include fruit juices, multi-grain cereals, and products made of soya.

When thinking calcium, we must also consider vitamin D. This special vitamin helps the body to absorb calcium in an efficient and maximised way.

Healthy Weight

Eating well also means sticking to those foods that help us to maintain a healthy and balanced weight.

The best way to achieve this is to work towards an eating plan that includes a variety of colours. There’s no better way to eat healthy (as well as enjoyable!) than by stacking your plate with greens, oranges, fresh herbs, tomatoes, and whole grains.

Fruit For The Boost

While fruit should be enjoyed in raw form instead of juiced, most fruits are great for boosting the body and mind.

Fresh fruit is obviously best, but when not in season, be sure to try frozen, canned or even dried fruit for a healthy snack while you play blackjack for money.

Fruits contain loads of minerals, antioxidants, and vitamins. Soluble fibre has too many benefits to even mention here, including the promotion of healthy cholesterol levels and the decelerated absorption of carbs.

Different fruits contain different nutrients, which is why it’s important that we fill our diets with as much of a variety as possible. Also, be sure to include the skin when eating fruits, as these are packed with fibre and antioxidants.
