Origin and Early History

Borussia Dortmund was found in 1909. Eighteen football players of Dortmund placed the foundation of the team. Its first kits were blue and white but in 1913 were changed to black and yellow stripes. In the beginning, the club did not enjoy much fantastic success, as it is thriving today. Earlier in days, it enjoyed success playing in local leagues. When the Bundesliga was formed in 1963, Borussia Dortmund was among the sixteen teams that were invited to play in Bundesliga.
